5Color children's bike helmet and pads sets recalled over head-injury risk

CPSC recalled 5Color small-size helmet-and-pads sets because the helmet fails mandatory bicycle-helmet requirements.

What the primary source says

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall on 24 September 2026 of 5Color children's bicycle helmet and pads sets. Only small helmets are affected; packaging and the inside label show model YD-001, lot/ref YD-260320 and date 2026/03/20. CPSC says the helmets fail impact attenuation, retention, positional-stability, labelling and certification requirements, creating a serious head-injury risk.

About 324 sets were sold online through Amazon in May 2026 for $25 to $26. Consumers should stop using the helmet, contact 5Color for a refund, cut the helmet straps and dispose of the helmet as instructed; pads may be kept. No incidents were reported. This US recall is not evidence of a UK recall.

Why it matters

The useful distinction

Model, lot and date markings let buyers identify a specific marketplace recall instead of relying only on the brand name.
