Australia recalls Compo Closet dry-flush toilets over battery fire risk
The ACCC recalled Compo Closet S1 toilets and adapter kits because cold charging can damage their lithium-ion batteries.
What the primary source says
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission published a recall on 25 September 2026 for Compo Closet S1 Dry Flush Sealing Toilets and S1 Adapter Kits (PRA 2026/21038). The battery-management system does not prevent charging at or below 0°C; damaged batteries can overheat, release smoke and toxic gas or catch fire. The ACCC advises consumers to stop using affected units if the battery was charged below 3°C or if they are unsure, disconnect and remove the battery, and arrange a free replacement battery or 12V bypass cable. Affected SKUs are CMP-S9901-W and CMP-S9902, with barcodes 5065015394525 and 5065015394518. This Australian recall does not establish a UK recall.
Why it matters
The useful distinction
The cold-charging condition, SKUs and barcode numbers help buyers identify a specific battery-related recall in online camper and off-grid equipment listings.
