CPSC warnings cover power banks, dressers, walkers and pool drains
Four CPSC warnings issued on 17 September address fire, tip-over, fall and pool-entrapment hazards, while a separate federal grant programme supports public-authority work to prevent drownings and drain entrapments.
What the evidence says
CPSC told consumers to stop using about 12,500 Hererod PW40 and EW40 jump starters or power banks after 16 reported fires, including seven involving property damage. It said the internal lithium-ion batteries could explode and ignite and directed owners to local hazardous-waste arrangements rather than household rubbish or ordinary battery-recycling boxes.
The agency also warned that unanchored Jocoevol six-drawer dressers were unstable and violated the mandatory clothing-storage-unit standard, and that about 5,451 Pvauert infant walkers could pass through a standard doorway and fail to stop at a step edge. A fourth warning concerned about 480 Lanyitongke pool drain covers lacking required markings, service-life information and installation and maintenance instructions under the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act.
The product-specific warnings are separate from CPSC's May grant announcement. That programme offered up to $4 million to eligible state, local, tribal and territorial governments, with awards of $50,000 to $400,000 over two years, for work to prevent child drownings and drain entrapments. Its application deadline was 13 July 2026.
Why it matters
The useful distinction
A CPSC stop-use warning may not come with a cooperating seller or normal recall remedy, so owners need to follow the exact product page, including special disposal instructions for damaged lithium-ion batteries. Pool safety also depends on compliant equipment, supervision and wider prevention systems.
