OPSS report flags Fafrees e-bike charger fuse over fire risk
A UK report says a Fafrees e-bike sold via Amazon had an incorrectly rated charger fuse link that could lead to overheating and fire.
What the primary source says
The Office for Product Safety and Standards published a Product Safety Report on 21 September 2026 for the Fafrees FF20 CUV e-bike. It says the charger plug contains an incorrectly rated fuse link; without a compliant fuse, the product may overheat and catch fire. The report also says no valid Declaration of Conformity was supplied.
The import was rejected at the border and Amazon removed the listing. The report identifies charger model BC010546030 and battery model XZ-480DXL-13-18. Its corrective action is directed at import and marketplace supply; it does not set out a consumer recall remedy. Buyers who recognise these identifiers should keep the product details and contact the distributor for advice and redress.
Why it matters
The useful distinction
Charging faults can create a serious fire risk even when the bike itself appears to work normally. Model, battery and charger identifiers are useful when checking a listing or contacting a seller.
