Australia recalls Supercol food thickener sold online over Cronobacter contamination
Food Standards Australia New Zealand says Supercol thickener sold nationally, including online, may be contaminated with Cronobacter; consumers should not eat it and should return it for a refund.
What the primary source says
Food Standards Australia New Zealand published a recall on 26 September 2026 for Supercol Food and Liquid Thickener in 325g, 900g and 4.5kg sizes, date mark 28/07/27. The product was available through Atlas McNeil Healthcare and online nationally. The stated problem is microbial Cronobacter contamination, which may cause illness if the product is consumed. Consumers should not eat the affected product and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund; anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice. This Australian recall does not establish a UK recall.

Why it matters
The useful distinction
Online food purchases can carry the same batch-specific recall risk as shop purchases; the date mark and pack sizes are the key checks.
