OPSS recalls Zebra printer power supplies over fire risk

OPSS says certain Zebra printer power supply units made between 2006 and 2012 can overheat and catch fire where the lead enters the appliance.

What the primary source says

The Office for Product Safety and Standards published a high-risk recall on 28 September 2026 for certain FSP Group power supply units used with Zebra prescription, card and desktop printers. The affected units cover specified Zebra printer ranges and were manufactured between 1 October 2006 and 31 December 2012. OPSS says an improperly mixed flame-retardant resin can absorb moisture and cause overheating or fire at the power lead entry point.

Owners should check the affected power-supply details against Zebra's recall information and follow the manufacturer's instructions. This is a UK recall notice for specified power supplies; it does not establish that every Zebra printer or power supply is affected.

Why it matters

The useful distinction

Older printer equipment can remain in workplaces and healthcare settings long after purchase. Checking the power-supply identifier matters because the hazard concerns the external PSU rather than every printer in the listed ranges.
