HotHands rechargeable warmers recalled in the US and Canada

Kobayashi's H163650 electric rechargeable warmers are recalled for battery-related fire and burn risks; disposable chemical warmers are not the identified product.

What the primary source says

CPSC has announced a recall of Kobayashi HotHands electric rechargeable hand warmers, model H163650, because battery and electrical components can overheat and ignite. The white-and-orange units form a magnetic pair, charge by USB-C and carry a white HotHands logo. The model and batch number are underneath.

The 1 October 2026 notice, recall 27-011, covers about 77,000 US units and notes about 72 sold in Canada; CPSC identifies the action as in conjunction with Canada. No incidents or injuries were reported. US sales included Amazon and other retailers from July 2025 to August 2026. Disposable chemical warmers are not the identified product.

US users should stop using the warmers and contact Kobayashi for a full refund. Follow the claim, marking and photograph instructions, including the four-digit batch number, and the local hazardous-battery disposal route. Do not put the warmers in ordinary rubbish or general recycling. The notice does not establish a UK recall.

Why it matters

The useful distinction

Brand recognition alone is insufficient: the electric model must be distinguished from disposable warmers.
