Hyperfuels fuel containers recalled over flame-jetting and child-poisoning risks
A US recall covers methanol and ethanol containers sold online and on Amazon because they lack required flame mitigation and, for methanol, child-resistant packaging.
What the primary source says
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of Hyperfuels methanol and ethanol fuel containers on 24 September 2026. The containers lack required flame-mitigation devices, creating a flame-jetting hazard. The methanol container is also not child-resistant and the products do not meet required labelling rules.
About 124 containers were sold at a Houston automotive shop and online, including Amazon, from May 2024 to May 2026. Consumers should stop using the containers, contact Hyperfuels for a refund or replacement and follow local hazardous-waste guidance. No incidents or injuries were reported in the notice.
Why it matters
The useful distinction
Small fuel containers sold online can combine serious fire and poisoning hazards with poor child-resistant packaging and labelling.
