Reclining-chair battery packs recalled after overheating and ignition reports

The Blue Cactus Company recalled 2500 mAh battery packs sold on Amazon after four reports of overheating, smoking or ignition.

What the primary source says

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of The Blue Cactus Company 2500 mAh battery packs for reclining chairs on 24 September 2026. Model RWX-RBP02 is printed on the rear of the black battery pack. Its lithium-ion battery can overheat, creating fire and burn hazards.

About 51,000 packs were sold on Amazon from May 2023 to July 2026 for about $105. CPSC is aware of four reports of packs overheating, smoking or igniting. Owners should stop using the pack and contact The Blue Cactus Company for a replacement. This US recall is not evidence of a UK recall.

Why it matters

The useful distinction

Removable battery packs used with furniture can be overlooked when checking a chair for recalls, especially after an online purchase.
