NEWDERY power banks recalled after explosions and fire reports

A US recall covers ZHX-PB22 power banks sold on Amazon after nine reports of explosions or ignition, including a serious fire and a burn injury.

What the primary source says

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of NEWDERY power banks on 24 September 2026. The lithium-ion battery in model ZHX-PB22 can explode or ignite. The black power banks have yellow cables, with the model number printed on the back.

The recall covers about 21,380 units sold on Amazon.com from October 2023 to November 2024. CPSC says there were nine reports of explosions or ignition, including a serious fire causing $2 million in property damage and one burn injury. Owners should stop using the power bank, contact NEWDERY for a refund and follow the regulator's lithium-battery disposal guidance. This US recall does not by itself establish a UK recall.

Why it matters

The useful distinction

Online-only battery products can remain in homes after marketplace sales end; model-level identification and safe disposal are important.
