Light-up children’s toys recalled over accessible button-cell batteries
ABC Trading recalled light-up glasses, headbands and ties in the US because children can access the button-cell batteries and swallow them.
What the primary source says
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of ABC Trading light-up glasses, crown headbands, sparkle headbands and ties on 24 September 2026. The products contain button-cell batteries in compartments that can be easily accessed by children, violating the mandatory toy safety standard and creating a serious ingestion hazard.
About 43,674 items were sold through ABC Trading stores, specialty shops and the company’s website from September 2016 to May 2026. Product identifiers on the packaging include 6502, HD-10 and L-508. No incidents or injuries were reported. Consumers should stop using the toys and contact ABC Trading for a refund, following local guidance for battery disposal.
Why it matters
The useful distinction
Button-cell battery compartments are a critical safety check for light-up toys, including inexpensive products bought online.
