Urban Arrow cargo e-bikes recalled over seat-post bolt failure

Gazelle USA is recalling specified Urban Arrow bikes whose seat post has two silver bolts, with free replacement parts available.

What the primary source says

CPSC has announced a recall of specified Urban Arrow cargo electric bicycles sold from 2016 to 2022. The affected seat post has two silver bolts. Models include Family and Shorty in black or white, Cargo L and XL in black or white, and Tender 1000 and 1500 in white.

The front bolt can break, loosening the seat and causing a fall. CPSC lists 1,032 US bikes and 134 sold in Canada, with nine reports of bolt damage or wear and no injuries. Owners should stop riding and contact Gazelle USA for a free replacement seat post and saddle, or arrange a free installation by an Urban Arrow dealer. The notice does not establish a UK recall.

Why it matters

The useful distinction

Check the seat-post design as well as the bicycle model when identifying affected bikes.
