Walmart recalls Expert Grill brushes over swallowed-bristle hazard

More than 4.4 million US grill brushes are recalled because detached wire bristles can enter food and cause internal injuries.

What the primary source says

CPSC has announced a US recall of Expert Grill wire grill brushes sold through Walmart, including online, from January 2021 to August 2026. Affected models are EX5607031616002, EX5607031616003, XG1310700206, XG1136178597003 and XG1410700124; the code appears on packaging, a sticker or a tag.

Wire bristles may detach, remain on a grill or food, and be swallowed, causing internal injuries that can require surgery. The recall covers 4,477,655 brushes. No incidents or injuries were reported in the notice. Owners should stop using affected brushes and contact Walmart for a refund or credit, following its return or disposal instructions. This is a US recall, not evidence of UK coverage.

Why it matters

The useful distinction

A small detached bristle may be difficult to spot in food.
